Dear Parents:
Welcome back! We hope you had a great summer and are excited to start the new school year.
As you likely know, there are many adverse developments impacting public education today. Budget cuts have affected almost every school district in our state and nation. Unfortunately, even our school is not immune to these significant economic challenges.
Quite simply, public education has changed! It has become absolutely necessary to maintain a successful Public-Private Partnership in order to provide a high quality educational experience for our children. We are very fortunate that our community embraced this concept many years ago. Today, we can proudly state that we have one of the most well established education foundations in the country.
The Rancho Santa Fe Education Foundation (RSFEF) is a privately funded, not-for-profit foundation that helps to supplement the cost of education for our children. Most of our annual funding comes from the parent community. As was the case last year, the RSFEF has committed to a grant of $1,000,000 to the Rancho Santa Fe School District for the 2012/13 school year. This grant represents approximately 11% of our school’s annual budget.
The grant to our school directly supports the “Five-Star Education” program received by our children – namely supporting small class sizes (average of less than 20 students per class) and maintaining specialized teachers.
As parents, we have the ability to “invest” in our child’s education. We can ALL find a way to contribute at a level that is appropriate based on our personal financial situation. The RSFEF acknowledges and thanks all of our contributors from last year and looks forward to their continued support this year. We respectfully request that those families who did not support us last year to please do so this year. Our goal is to achieve 100% participation from our parent community this year. Finally, we welcome new families to learn about the RSFEF and strongly encourage them to support our organization/school.
Please make your contribution (or pledge) today at a level that you believe is appropriate for your family. Please be as generous as possible—everyone should be “Proud to Participate.”
We are honored to serve as the Chair and Vice-Chairs of the RSFEF this school year. If you have any questions about the RSFEF, please do not hesitate to contact us or review our website at www.rsfef.org. Thank you, in advance, for supporting the education of our children through your contribution to the RSFEF. As our tag line indicates, “the difference is you!”
With Gratitude,
Glenn A. Oratz, Chair Lynn S. Frank, Vice-Chair Patrick Ritto, Vice-Chair
